Chateau Perrier

The Avenue de Champagne is probably one of the more beautiful streets that I have been to in France. The avenue is lined with the offices of the big champagne houses which Épernay is known for. Okay, personally, I have never heard of Épernay, that’s why it surprised me to know that most of the world’s champagne will ultimately come from here. In fact, it can’t be called champagne if it didn’t come from here. Certainly, the big champagne houses will make sure that they have a presence here in Épernay especially the Avenue de Champagne. Champagne being a luxury product is also deeply associated with beauty. Which is why the offices of the champagne houses along the Avenue de Champagne should also be beautiful.

Outside Chateau Perrier

I was walking down the Avenue de Champagne and I came across this beautiful looking mansion. It reminded me of the French castles such as the palace of Versailles. The similarity is certainly there. This is the Chateau Perrier. There seems to be little activity here but the gates are wide open so I could get a slightly closer look though I don’t want to push my luck too far. It was a Sunday so maybe it is not open. Apparently, this building serves as the Museum of Champagne, wine and archeology. I didn’t get to see the inside of this beautiful building which is a shame.
