Powerscourt House

I was pleasantly surprised with my visit to Powerscourt Estate and Gardens. I was thinking that it would just be a large garden but it seems that there are a few places which would not be garden. From the Pepper Pot Tower, we made our way back to the main gardens and eventually back to the Powerscourt House. I’m not sure if this is what the place is called but this is the main house of the people who lived here. That is in the past tense because people don’t live here anymore. The house burned in 1974 and all that was left is the shell of the house. It stayed that way for a while until it was renovated.

People still don’t live here even after the renovation. It has become a tourist attraction instead, probably will earn them more money like that. There are said to be two rooms which have been arranged so that people have an idea of how it was back then when people still lived here. I didn’t get to see that because it was off limits at the time of my visit. Access was only limited to the ground floor which is a retail area. There are shops here selling souvenirs if you are into that kind of thing. There is also a cafe here but because of social distancing, you can’t really eat inside. The roof of the house has been replaced with glass so it is actually quite bright in here. It is a shame that we couldn’t see the rooms since we already paid for them.
