Druid’s View

It was a rather miserable start for the day at the village of Kenmare. The rain was heavy and it makes driving difficult as it was difficult to see. I remember the previous day where I had to cross the Caha mountain range to get to Kenmare. Now I have to cross it again to get back to county Cork where I was intending to explore. This is what I meant when I realized that it wasn’t the best decision to pick Kenmare to use as a base to explore West Cork, I think Bantry might have been a better option at that time. Anyway, it was still raining and I made my way to Druid’s View.

By the time I got there the rain was already quite heavy and visibility was poor. I only took a quick snapshot of the view from Druid’s View and ran back to the car. The viewpoint wasn’t that high up yet. I know the mountain road goes much higher but I wouldn’t bet on seeing any view from up the mountain since visibility was bad the previous day. I think this would be as good as it gets here. There is a statue of a druid here as well. A druid is some sort of village elder in the old Celtic cultures. I don’t think that the statue is that significant. There is a shop across the road called Molly Gallivan’s and I think it would have been popular when tourism was in full blast. Perhaps with the slow reopening of the hospitality sector, they would be able to see more visitors.
