Pork Ribs at O’Donnabhain’s Bar and Restaurant

I practically spent the whole day driving across West Cork seeing all sorts of beautiful sights. I finally made to my destination which is the village of Kenmare in neighboring county Kerry, where I would be spending the next two nights. The journey to Kenmare was a marked by a suspenseful drive across the Caha mountains which separate Kenmare from county Cork. I have finally checked in the Druid Cottage where I would be spending the next two nights, this means I was ready to go out.

By the time I got out of the bed and breakfast, it was already evening. Fortunately, Druid’s Cottage wasn’t far from the village center where there are a few eating places. I have ate here before, which is why I chose Kenmare to be my base of operations. It seems that my luck would finally turn for the better. I didn’t know it but restrictions for outdoor dining were only lifted that day. This means that restaurants are allowed to have guests outside. This explains why the restaurants at Baltimore was heaving with customers. Not all of the restaurants at Kenmare were open but I still managed to find a spot at O’Donnabhain’s Bar and Restaurant. There were a few seats outside which follows regulations.

It feels like it has been ages since I last dined anywhere. Most of the time, it was takeaway food like burgers, fish and chips or just plain fast food. This time, it is a proper sit down meal. I got myself a rack of ribs and some soup. I don’t know if it is the food or just the joy of eating outside again that made it taste so good. It didn’t matter that it was cold. It didn’t matter that it was drizzling. For the first time in a long while, I could think and hope that maybe this will all finally be over.
