Rocky Coast of Rabat

Sea Foam All Around at Rabat

Sea Foam All Around at Rabat

The Rabat Lighthouse is a nice place for photographs. There didn’t seem to be a lot of people coming here. There were probably a handful of people taking the odd photo but that was it. The lighthouse actually is just part of the places to see along the Atlantic coast of Rabat. Already, I can see that the water near the lighthouse is much rougher than the water near the kasbah. I wondered what was different. The kasbah is actually beside a river which cuts through the city. Before that, there are two breakwaters which help keep the worst of the waves away from the river. Near the lighthouse, there is no such thing. After result, you get the full uncensored power of the Atlantic as the waves crash into the rocks below.

Looking at the Rabat Lighthouse

The view isn’t very different from the cliffs that I have seen in Ireland. Both face the Atlantic and have ended up with cliffs of varying sizes. The ones here in Rabat aren’t as call as the one in Ireland. But the similarity is there. The crashing water can get so rough that the water turns all white. And because the cliffs here aren’t that high, you can get hit by seaspray as well. It is a beautiful sight to see the raw power of nature at work here. Looking at this, it also makes me wonder how long the coast here would last. The highway isn’t that far from the cliffs either, some day the government may need to reinforce it to keep that area from falling into the sea.
