Closer Look at Rabat Lighthouse

I was delighted with the view from the top of the Kasbah of the Udayas. I had already written it off as another empty citadel but the view made me forget all that. I saw that there were a few beaches nearby and I thought I should go a have a closer look. As I was walking down, I saw that there was a lighthouse in the distance. I was now torn between seeing the beach or visiting the lighthouse. The lighthouse won. The lighthouse is a good walk from the Kasbah of the Udayas. With the weather getting warmer, it was almost uncomfortable. Fortunately, there was a good breeze from the ocean.

Rabat Lighthouse

As with most lighthouses, the Rabat Lighthouse is tall. This particular one was built in the 1920s to warn ships of the coast. I can see why they would need warning. The waters around this area seems to quick treacherous. The Atlantic Ocean waves finally hitting some land and the result is some rocky shorelines. The lighthouse it built on top of a platform so I can be seen from far away. It is entirely white. It doesn’t seem to be open to visitors though which is a shame. Then again, this is still an active lighthouse so you can’t have visitors coming in a breaking something.
