View of Rabat Beaches

Rabat Beach

Rabat Beach

I was delighted to end up at a viewing deck when I was going around in the Kasbah of the Udayas. It wasn’t very obvious from the signage but apparently there is a way to the beaches from here. Beaches? I only found out when I saw the wonderful view from the viewing deck. As you might expect, there were a lot of people here. The students from earlier in the andalusian garden have now made their way into the viewing deck. Fortunately, the viewing deck is large enough to accommodate everybody. I think the best spot for photographs would be the corner and I think a lot of people know that.

From this vantage point, you can see a wide area around the mouth of the Oued Bou Regreg, the river which cuts through the city of Rabat. You can see that there are a couple of breakwaters which help keep the waves from the open sea from entering the river. No wonder the river was so calm here. You can see that there are also a couple of beaches here. While not that long, the sand is more than enough to make for a lovely beach. I wasn’t expecting this in Rabat but I probably should have since it faces the Atlantic Ocean. I see that there are also a lot of people down at that beach. I would want to get a closer look after this.
