Outside the Kasbah of the Udayas

Udaya Gate

Udaya Gate

I decided that I had enough of the Kasbah of the Udayas. I thought that the place seemed underwhelming. I was imagining to see a castle of some sorts but it looks like a sanitized version of a medina. There were no massive markets here which probably made it even more boring. Either way, I went back out to the main gate. I then realized that I never got to take a photo of the main gate itself. It is actually quite impressive. If you look at it, you would be forgiven if you thought that the larger gate is the entrance into the kasbah, in fact it is actually the smaller one, yes, the one with the no entry sign.

Detail on the Udaya Museum

The larger structure is actually the Udaya museum. It has the appearance of a traditional Moroccan gate with Islamic design. It blends in well with the kasbah as well as they appear to be made of the same material. I like how they incorporated traditional designs into a modern structure like a museum with glass doors. The fact that the museum facade looks too good might be a giveaway that it is not old at all, considering how the rest of the kasbah is falling apart. I didn’t go in the museum anymore since I still have a lot of ground to cover.
