Exploring Rabat

Fishing Boats at the Promenade at Rabat

Fishing Boats at the Promenade at Rabat

I came here to Rabat because it is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. While I don’t really like going to cities when I go on trips but in this case, the entire city itself is a UNESCO World Heritage site, so I thought that I should just drop by. There are several places to see here in Rabat but I think I should get my bearings first and get out of the medina. Turns out, I wasn’t very far from the exit of the medina and I quickly found myself near the river. I remember the taxi I took the previous time passed by this way and I made a note to remember to pass by here when I come back.

Walking Along the Promenade at Rabat

Walking Along the Promenade at Rabat

There is a nice promenade here along the river. What is interesting is that it looks like people are still going about their traditional ways. There are numerous fishing boats here which don’t look big enough to handle the open sea. They probably don’t need to venture too far into the sea anyway. The waters along the promenade are very calm and I wouldn’t be surprised to see people boating here for leisure. There were fishermen who were fixing up their nets. It is almost like they were misplaced since Rabat is supposed to be a showcase of what Africa can achieve but you still have people still going about their old traditional ways. The fishermen didn’t mind me looking around. It would have been nice to see them when they come back with their haul but I don’t know when or where they would come back to.
