Chefchaoen Kasbah at Night

Against all odds, I managed to find the main square in the Chefchaoen medina. It was truly surprising since Chefchaoen’s medina is a maze where you could easily get lost in. There are a myriad of alleys to explore and one wrong turn and you would be lost. Most of the alleys look much like any other alley. On top of that, it was already night time. Some how I managed to find the center of activity in town. The main square isn’t really that large but good enough to surround it with restaurants. To one side of the square is what is called a kasbah. This is basically and old fortress or castle. There is no hope that the castle would be open this time of the night but could try to go around can take photos of it since I was already there.

The rain is still falling so it was difficult to get proper photos here. I would try to sneak in a few photos every now and then, but the weather was really dampening my mood. The kasbah appears to be a very interesting structure and I can’t wait to see it in the following day. Looking at the square here, it seems like it is rather quiet for a major tourist attraction. I was fearing the worst when I came here but it seems my fears of over tourism might be overblown, at least in Chefchaoen. The square becomes rather sleepy this time of the night so I thought I should start heading back and get some rest. It has been a long day for me.
