Theme Park at the Mall of America

I was very amazed at the size of the Mall of America. I have been to larger malls than this but most if not all of the malls have an elongated layout. This means that you need to walk from one end to another to explore the place. The Mall of America has a more compact layout. The roughly square layout allows you to see most of the mall while walking around it. From here you can get to appreciate the size of the building. This is opposed to just seeing part of the entire building if it was just a long building. Because of the compact layout out of the Mall of America, it gives the impression of size to the building. Most of the shops are along the sides of the three levels of the shopping mall. At the very center is one of the attractions of the mall itself – a theme park.

Now, an indoor theme park is probably not that huge of an idea but I think it makes sense in the case of the Mall of America. Minnesota is known to have one of the coldest winters in the continental United States. This makes an outdoor theme park useless for pretty much the entire winter. With the size of the Mall of America, it is possible to fit a theme park at the center of the mall and it makes it usable the whole year round. The theme park here is Nickelodeon Universe and it is the largest indoor theme park in the country. As you might expect, it is one which features rides featuring the characters of the Nickelodeon Universe. I have watched much on Nickelodeon but it seems that it is popular enough that people would come here for the rides. There are numerous rides here and it is hard to miss the roller coasters as it zips by with its screaming passengers.
