Lake Minnetonka

Lake Minnetonka is one of the eleven thousand lakes in the state of Minnesota. As large it is already is, it is only the ninth largest in the state. People in Minnesota would come here for recreation such as eating because of the many restaurants here. However, we are here for a more relaxing purpose – cruising. The port of Excelsior is our main departure point. There are a few cruise ships here and we would be taking one of them. I was under the impression that we would get the entire ship but it seems that we still have to share it with others.

The tour was actually uneventful. The water on the lake was very calm and it was relaxing. I was actually enjoying it much more than I thought I would. Lake Minnetonka was well known before as a place for recreation. Back then, there were a lot of hotels which were built here. Over the years, the western frontier of the United States opened up and less people needed to come here. These days, the Lake Minnetonka area is considered the most well off area in the state of Minnesota. I can see the allure of owning a house in this area. If you can survive the harsh winter here, I think it really is a great place to own a house. However, the prices here are probably already very expensive. Given that Minnesota has eleven thousand lakes to choose from, surely there would be a spot which is nice and still affordable.
