When I was looking up places to stay in Achill, one of the places which came up was Achill Cliff House Hotel & Restaurant. Unfortunately, it was a bit too high end of me and I ended up staying somewhere else for much less. The name of the place already inspires great scenery just outside the window. It is actually facing Keel Beach but it is still a bit of a walk to the beach. Most people would probably be staying here or eating here. I found this place and decided to just eat here if I couldn’t stay here. It seems that their restaurant is also quite well known in Achill.

I arrived at the restaurant quite early in the evening and I didn’t have to worry about booking a seat yet. Eventually, the restaurant did eventually fill up, it would probably be wise to book ahead. Being by the sea, I thought that it would be nice to have some seafood. I ended up going for the lobster. While the lobster wasn’t as large as I hoped it would be it was quite good. It seemed to be quite fresh and it was cooked just right. There is always that butter oil I love to slather the lobster in. Additionally, for starters, I had a bowl of their famous seafood chowder. I honestly can’t tell if this was the best chowder I had, but I had much worse ones. The good ones probably all tend to be quite similar to each other. The soup was chunky and it had quite a bit of seafood in it. Service was also good, with the food coming in promptly. When in Achill, one could not go wrong dropping by the Achill Cliff House Hotel & Restaurant. This is arguably one of the best restaurants in the island so why not treat yourself once in a while.
