Going to Taipei 101

Taipei 101

I have seen various facets of Taipei in this trip. The traditional in old Chinese temples, the modern in the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall. But I haven’t really seen how Taipei is in the present day. Parts of Taipei isn’t really that modern. There are lots of old buildings which date back several decades. Of course, there has been construction going on, this has been done in a different area of the city. One of the modern landmarks in Taipei is undoubtedly Taipei 101. For a while it was the world’s tallest skyscraper. I remember first hearing about this and wondering how did they manage to build that in such as seismically active region.

I actually had a quick look at Taipei 101 the previous day. It seemed that the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall is not that far from Taipei 101. It soars above the other buildings in the vicinity unfortunately, the top of the skyscraper was obscured by clouds, so I thought I should just go visit it another day. It seems that I was luckier this time around. Although the weather isn’t that any better, there weren’t any low lying clouds which would block the top of Taipei 101. This area around the tower seems to be a fancy and expensive area. I will have to see what I would do after get my photos.
