I spent an enjoyable day in the city of Évora and it was time for me to head on to the big city of Lisbon. I enjoy exploring the not-so-mainstream tourist attractions of a country, and I think Évora is one of those places which not everyone gets to. I have a rental car with me and never needed it in Évora itself. However, I still took the rental car with me to go to Lisbon where I plan to drop it off. It was a bit of a challenge to navigate Lisbon especially near the airport. It knew I was already there but I just couldn’t figure out how to properly get in the rental car area. I spent a few rounds trying to get in but the traffic system of the big city is too confusing for me. This includes a roundabout with three or four lanes. I wasn’t even sure which lane to get on since there were no signs telling you. Eventually I managed to return the car in one piece. From now on, I will be using public transportation to move around.

The capital city of Lisbon has a very comprehensive public transportation system. Thankfully, they have a metro system which is easy to figure out. After taking the metro to where my hotel is located, I decided to start exploring immediately. The promenade area of Lisbon is probably the most well known in the city. Fortunately, Google Maps has transport information from the hotel to the location so getting there was a breeze. The bus cut through the old town of Lisbon and you get to see the city up close. The difference between the old city and outside is quite obvious since the streets in the old city are much narrower. They are, however, large enough for public buses to go through.
