I explored the paid area of the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Cecilia. I should have expected that there was a museum here considering how old and how historically important this cathedral is. The cathedral was built as a statement of the strength of the Roman Catholic faith against the heretics of that time. What resulted was the world’s largest brick cathedral and one of the largest brick buildings in the world. This is certainly very impressive. Additionally, the cathedral has accumulated a lot art over the centuries and they are actually on display here in the paid section of the cathedral.

The treasury room and archives of the cathedral have been turned into a museum showcasing these works of art. Although I have seen these types of art before, it is still nice to see what has been stored here over the years. I don’t consider myself a museum person, nor am I an art critic, so I didn’t really find anything interesting here in the museum. I quickly breezed through the museum and on to the next part of the cathedral. Already, I was thinking where I would be going after this and whether the rain had already stopped.
