Basilica of Saint-Martin d’Ainay

I had a nice dinner at Vieux Lyon and I think I was satisfied with my visit. It was to be my last night in Lyon and I actually felt like I should have spent more time here if only for the food. Flights are easy to get here so it is not a problem of getting here. Perhaps next time when it would be much easier for me to come. It was starting to get late and I thought I should head back to the hotel to rest. I would need to wake up early the next day so a good night’s sleep would be nice.

Along the way back, ran into a church which I didn’t see that day. It was near where I had dinner the previous night. This was the Basilica of Saint-Martin d’Ainay. The structure of the church appeared to be one which is very sturdy. The exterioor is made of light colored stone and it is very attractive. The style of the basilica is Romanesque though it might not be that obvious from the outside. It was a pity that this basilica was closed since I was curious how it would look inside. The style of the church makes it looks like it was from the middle ages though it was restored fairly recently. Of particular note here is an attached abbey which I wasn’t able to see.
