I was quite happy that I managed to hit all the places which I planned to visit today. It was a long way from Krakow and it was starting to get dark. I guess that is what is not good about traveling in the latter part of the year. The days are shorter which gives less time for traveling. So I need to get back to Krakow since I don’t want to be driving in the dark. I don’t know how their roads are here in the country but at the very least, I want to hit the motorway by the time it gets dark. Google Maps says it would take me two hours to get back so time is of the essence.

It just so happened that I passed by the village of Leszczyny and I discovered that I was right next to a tserkva. This was the Church of Saint Luke in Leszczyny. The roof features silver colored roof with three onion dome towers typical of tserkvas. This contrasts with the very dark body of the church. It seems like this hasn’t been replaced in a while and the age of the wood is showing. This is rather strange since the roof seems to be impeccably maintained. I only took photos of the church from the outside since I was already in a hurry to get back to Krakow. This church is not part of the UNESCO World Heritage list but it is a reminder of how common these types of structures are here in this region of Poland.
