Sea Breeze Bed and Breakfast

I finally completed the first leg of my trip around the Ring of Kerry, it was already late afternoon and I needed to check in the bed and breakfast. The name of the place is Sea Breeze Bed and Breakfast and it is in the town of Cahersiveen. It was easy enough to find and the house was near the main road as well. The town seemed to be a tiny one having only one street going all the way to the port at the end. I didn’t knoow this then but the main Cahersiveen town was still a drive down and it much livelier.

Anyway, the sign at the bed and breakfast didn’t wasn’t too clear to me. It was positioned between two houses and I first went to the wrong house. At least the guy pointed me to the correct place. In hindsight, I should have had a look at what the house looked like. The house is large and what is immediately visible is the delightful sun room they have. It was perfect since it was such a beautiful day. The wind was picking up though.

The lady of the house was a serious looking lady and it seemed like she was all business, almost like your elementary school teacher. She warmed up later and became quite chatty. Apparently, her son works in Singapore where I happened to work previously. From the sounds of it, the son seems to be living the life there. The bedroom here was okay. I got a room with two beds. It had all you can expect from a bed and breakfast. There were those curious crumbs on the sheets though, I would blame kids for that. Though she seems so serious, the lady seemed to have a naughty streak in her as well. I came back from dinner that night and was going to bed when she called me over and introduced me to two German guests, then immediately left. I got stuck in a conversation for more than an hour! It seemed like she used me to escape. The German couple was very nice but I think the conversation lasted longer than it should. I never really got to talk to her about that. The bed and breakfast has a great location if you want to have quicker access to the town of Portmagee which is a major tourist area.
