Below the Rock of Cashel

Walking Around the Rock of Cashel

Walking Around the Rock of Cashel

When I finished lunch, I was actually quite excited to start exploring. Already, I saw the main attraction of Cashel, that is, the Rock of Cashel. It is large complex of structures built on top of a large rock formation. Much as I want to explore, I thought to walk around the area first before making the climb. No doubt a lot of people head straight for the cashel without a moment’s notice, it is that impressive. Anyway, I decided to circle the foot of the cashel first hoping for a good angle.

A Look at the Cashel from Below

Some paths below the cashel wasn’t very conducive to walking. There were times where I had to walk on dirty path which I suspect is used by horses. The cashel itself it too far high up to be seen. It didn’t really lend itself to photographs unless you want to see how it looks like on top of that mountain. I think walking a bit further away and having a better telephoto lens will be better than what I was doing. It was not surprising how much I need to walk to circle around the foot of the cashel. It was practically a mountain. It would have been impressive back then to see this impressive fortress built on top of the hill. I think it would have been a great lookout point for invaders.
