Arrival at Tianjin South Railway Station 天津南站

The reason why I had to travel all the way from Beijing to Tianjin just to get home was because my flight departs from Tianjin Binhai Airport. It seems that more and more low cost airlines call at Tainjin instead of Beijing probably due to lower costs. Getting to Beijing from here should a snap, if you can find the train station that is. The trip from Beijing to Tianjin South Railway Station was uneventful. The train wasn’t full and it still departs on time. This was what I like about rail travel. The price of getting here wasn’t that expensive either, currently it is at CNY 94 for my ticket. Great price compared to the four hour bus ride I had to endure the last time.

Within 30 minutes of leaving Beijing South Railway Station, we arrived at the surprisingly modern city of Tianjin. Tianjin is being promoted as another business center but it doesn’t have the same pull as a Shanghai or even a Beijing. Still because of the low costs involved in setting up businesses here instead of Beijing, a lot are being enticed to come here. And due to its proximity to the big city, it seems to be working. Tianjin’s South Railway Station doesn’t seem to be that modern at least from the inside. After getting some photos of the arrival area of the station it was time to do some exploring of Tianjin, I only have a little time left here in Tianjin, let’s see what we can see here.
