Mirror of Two Lakes 双湖夹镜

One of the Barely Alive Lakes

Ranking Number 33 in Emperor Kangxi’s scenic spot list is the Mirror Two Lakes. The name of the spot is taken from one of the poems of famed poets Libai 李白. Naturally there are two small lakes here side by side. However, the water was quite low that it wasn’t really that impressive. There is a narrow strip of land which will let visitors traverse the area.

It is said to be a good place to observe lotus, however as the water level is very low, all of the lotus have already died. This is also due to the coming winter. There are two gates which guard the narrow causeway in between the two lakes. Of all Kangxi’s scenic spots, this was probably one of the most disappointing one for me. Or maybe I just came at the wrong time.
