Hong Kong is dotted with several massive parks some of which could qualify as national parks, in fact these parks make up majority of the territory of Hong Kong. These parks are called country parks here in Hong Kong and they are a great source of adventure for all nature lovers. They are also great alternatives to experiencing Hong Kong, instead of being just all skyscrapers and shopping centers. The country parks offer a great experience to all who want to visit this place. In fact, in the New Territories, there is a long trail composed of several country parks called the McLehose Trail. I would want to someday be able to complete that.

Finally, I saw a sign which say where were are, the Shek O Country Park 石澳郊野公园 is a little underwhelming but this is how it really is. The trail is well worn and it is difficult to lose your way here especially with all the helpful signs. They even point out how much further the destination is. There were a few other hikers along this path, a few of them foreigners. I could see the allure of this trail, despite it being worn out, there is hardly any sign of human interference here. Of course the occasional guide post will always be there but this is really a great place to just lose yourself and be one with nature.
