Attached to the Church of Saint Peter the Apostle in Loboc is a small museum. The museum is housed where the parish offices are so it would be any surprise if you suddenly ran into the staff of the church. The structure itself really looks like it is 400 years old and it seems like it is ready to fall apart. I guess it would be best to visit the church before it really does happen. Beside the church and alongside the main road of Loboc is the entrance. There is a small entrance fee to the museum which I hope goes to the restoration of the place.

The entrance area is quite dark and there are no lights inside. It is a welcome break from the searing heat outside the church. To go to the museum one will have to go up a very old looking staircase. There is a huge patch of moss on the side of the staircase again giving that ruined feel to the church, as if it needed any help to do so. The stairs basically opens up to a hallway. I went one way but it turned out to be the parish offices. Maybe they should have separated them from the museum.

Anyway, the other way leads to a large hall with a few chairs and tables in it. The furniture looked very old and it seem that it was used way back in the Spanish times. There were a few paintings of the people who used to be staying in this place. Outside the large hall is a balcony where you can watch people pass by. It was kind of hard to imagine the kind of life people used to live here in this place. Most of the furniture is no longer there and the entire structure feels like it would start to give way anytime soon.

As the people of the church would lament, interest in the church of Loboc waned with the rise in popularity of the river cruise nearby. That would be such a shame since I would take in these types of structures more over some river cruise. It would probably help if the government also helps in promoting the historical aspects of Bohol as it is more than just nice beaches and nice rivers. It would really help the government raises awareness for the Loboc Church and hopefully, it can last another 400 years more.
