The Casa di Giulietta is one of the most popular spots in the city of Verona. Mostly, it is tourists who flock here to get a taste of “history”. The house is supposedly the real house of the fictional Juliet Capulet of Romeo and Juliet fame. The house is actually wonderfully preserved and it could be worth the visit just for that, ignoring the Juliet stuff around it. It is a museum now and there is an entrance fee to go in. Honestly, one might just be better of taking photos outside of the house and moving on. I guess I am not really into this kind of thing.

One, however, does not need to go in the museum to appreciate the Casa di Giulietta. The house is probably best appreciate outside and no doubt, most people just do that. However, just outside the house, it is hard to ignore that huge crowd of tourists gathering around a statue. This is a bronze statue of Juliet herself. I think it was nice that they set up a statue outside the house so people don’t all need to go in the house. The crowd was quite busy and one probably just need to step up immediately to be able to get your chance to take a photo with the statue. Most people would be much smaller than the statue though, so it was hard to put your arm around her. If you observe the people getting their photos, you would notice the almost everyone would try to hold on to her breast when getting their photo taken. This is supposedly for luck. Whoever came up with this silly superstition probably couldn’t guess that there would be millions of people lining up to publicly molest the statue every year.
