Now that I am back in the city of Vicenza, I can spend the rest of the afternoon completing the list of sites which Andrea Palladio designed. There are all included in the UNESCO World Heritage list so it must be worth visiting. I drew up a route that hopefully would take me to the sites with the least amount of effort and I ended up going to the Palazzo Porto in Piazza Castello. The name is an indication that there is a need to distinguish this Palazzo Porto from another one with the same name. Andrea Palladio designed two palazzi for the Porto family. There is the Palazzo Porto and there there is this one Palazzo Porto in Piazza Castello.

Immediately, upon seeing the Palazzo Porto in Piazza Castello, you can tell that there is something different about it. It is extremely narrow. It was so strange to see a palazzo designed like this. The design itself was good, as it reminded me of classical Roman architecture. But the fact that there were only two bays built here certainly looks out of place. I thought that perhaps the rest of the building was destroyed but this doesn’t seem to be the case. The palazzo was indeed built like this. There was no reason given as to why this was the case, but one can always speculate. Despite its narrow dimensions, there was still room for a small terrace on the left. Currently, the building doesn’t seem to be available for visits. The windows are boarded up and despite its looks as a Palladian creation, it didn’t seem to be inviting.
