After finally checking into the hotel where I would be spending the night, I spent some time to rest a while before heading out again. I haven’t been looking at my list of Palladian buildings but I was sure that I still have a way to go. When I head out again, I decided to go to the other end of town. Although, I was almost at that area earlier, I was too lazy to go there since I was carrying my backpacks with me. Now that I have left my bags at the hotel, I have more freedom of movement. The river Retrone passes through the city and I thought that It would be nice to have a look around the area.

As far as the old city is concerned, there are two bridges which are relevant. The Sant Paolo Bridge is one of them. The river isn’t very wide and thus the bridge isn’t very long. However, having a bridge go through a medieval town is always a treat. The San Paolo Bridge was spruced up with plants and the main view is the view of the next bridge San Michele Bridge, which isn’t too far away. The narrow river with the old buildings framed by plants make for a very pretty picture, don’t you agree? The bridge wasn’t the first to exist here though as the older one was replaced in the nineteenth century. This wasn’t designed by Andrea Palladio, although he did document the existence of the older bridge with his illustrations.
