It looks like it was time for some museum visits. As you might expect in a historic city like Vicenza, there are several museums. I have visited a few of them already and they were okay. I am not very keen on going to museums especially those which are cultural or historical in nature. I tend to tune out very quickly and I would just go through the entire place as fast as I can and move on to the next thing. I went through the Museo di Santa Corona in Vicenza very quickly. It wasn’t that large in the first place. I went through the natural history part of the museum followed by the archeological part of the museum. What do I think about it? Let’s just say, I don’t remember much about it.

Not too far away is yet another museum, this one seems to be more prominent, the Gallerie d’Italia Vicenza. It looks like it is the most significant museum in the city. I got tickets to go in the museum so I might as well have a look. Immediately, I got the feeling the museum was better set up. A lot of the collections are due to its proximity to the old Venetian Republic. As a result there are a lot of art piees which come from that period. Unsurprisingly, a lot of the art pieces were religious in nature. But perhaps one of the more memorable pieces for me was this collection of iconography which are reminiscent of the ones seen in Russian Orthodox churches. Apparently, this is one of the most significant collections of this kind found in the Europe.
