I spent the earlier part of the morning visiting some of the works of architect Andrea Palladio. Most of them are quite impressive, which should not probably be a surprise since Andrea Palladio is considered to be the most influential architects of our time. My latest visit is to the Church of Santa Corona. The church itself isn’t designed by him since it was built before he was even born. However, there are parts of the church which were designed by him as we shall see in later posts. In the meantime, I was rather underwhelmed at what I was seeing in the church since it looked like it was any other old church in Italy.

I moved on from the main church hall and started to look at the other parts of the church. Like any other old church in Italy, there are other places to see here. In particular, there are also small self contained chapels which are usually built just outside the main hall. I happened across these smaller chapels thought it wasn’t clear what the purpose of the chapel is but I thought it looked like one more for funerals. There was an ornate altar and the chapel is surrounded by several statues of religious figures. This chapel gives a little more feel of age compared to the rest of the church especially with that wooden roof it has.
