I was making good progress in my visit to the UNESCO World Heritage listed properties in the city of Vicenza. All of these structures were designed by famed architect Andrea Palladio. I had a map of the locations of the sites and the next one isn’t that far from the Teatro Olimpico. It was not as if I have much to do since I was waiting to drop my bags the hotel which for some reason didn’t seem to be open yet. Either way, I had time and it was time to move on to the next site – Palazzo Chiercati.

The Palazzo Chiercati is a palace built for its namesake Girolamo Chiericati. While it may not look like it right now, it was designed to be a country home. There weren’t as many structures then as it is now. It still boggles the mind how they can build a building as big as this and call it a home. Still, the palazzo was also designed by Andrea Palladio and it has a very classical look to it. There are several columns here which support the structure and the roof is topped by several statues. These days, it is a museum which is also included in the ticket I purchased.
