
As you might expect, the city center of Padova is very busy. There are several historical structures here but the one I was interested in was the Palazzo della Ragione. I initially thought that it was a palace, but it was more a town or city hall in this case. The ground floor also served and still serves as a market hall. I was going around the entire building first before going in when I saw this part of the building which looked different from the other side. This was the Loggia dei Bandi.

You can see from the photos that this part looks totally different from the rest of the building. Most prominently seen here is the balcony door. It is here where announcements or proclamations are made. The side is also richly decorated with various motifs such as a coat of arms and also a bust of Tito Livio, who was a very important historian. As you can guess, he was a resident of Padova, hence the bust. There used to be a bridge which connected to the nearby buildings but that is long gone. The balcony also has direct line of sight to the clock tower which is at the end of the street.
