I unwittingly ended up going to the Formula One track which just so happened to be on the weekend that I was there in Las Vegas. I never planned on this as I was just planning a quiet weekend of going around Las Vegas and eating. This is still a very nice surprise. Of course, I was exaggerating since I already knew that the Formula One was on when I was making my way to the Strip. The main Las Vegas Boulevard was closed to traffic because the cars have to race somewhere. This caused a lot of rerouting of the buses and I needed to walk further to get to the Strip, when it should have been a straightforward ride.

With the main boulevard closed, there were only select points where pedestrians can cross the road. Previous visitors to Las Vegas would be aware of some overhead bridges where visitors can pass, surely you can watch the race there. As you might expect, the organizers have that already covered, literally. The bridge was boarded up, so it was almost impossible to see anything from the bridge. There were parts where it wasn’t entirely covered so you can see the cars pass. There are countless ushers here who would relentlessly tell you to keep moving and remind you that there is no stopping here. Because if everyone did that, the bridge would be blocked.
I managed to sneak in a few shots but actually, it wasn’t easy to take photos anyway since the race cars would go so fast that the photos would end up looking like what you see here. It wasn’t totally unexpected since I already got photos of the race cars in other Formula One races. I don’t consider myself a fan nor do I even follow the season as it goes. In fact, I thought it was boring since the cars just kept going round and round the track. I know, I don’t really understand it, but for me, the most interesting and exciting part of the Formula One, is just hearing the race cars go by. It is hard not to get excited just hearing the roar of the engines. It did excite me but probably for five minutes since they would just go round and round anyway.
