Sand Dune Arch is my latest stop here in my visit to Arches National Park. I understand the name would be associated with a park like this, but I don’t think I have seen actual sand dunes here. Yes, I did see petrified sand dunes earlier but they have turned into rock. It seems that there are sand dunes but I have yet to see them. The Sand Dune Arch is inside a collection of sandstone fins. Visitors won’t be able to see the arch immediately but instead will need to take a short hike into the fins.

I like how I don’t need to do too much walking here because I am lazy. The hike really isn’t that far, you just need to follow the trail into the sandstone fins and you are there. I don’t think I have been this close to sandstone fins like these before. The slabs are thin and regular that you could think that they weren’t natural. It is possible to walk between the fins but the main trail takes you right into the middle of it all. At one point it is barely wide enough to fit a human through. Thoughts of The Narrows came to my mind and I thought that this is what narrow actually means. As you walk further into the fins, you will notice a build up of sand inside. I realize that this is where the sand dune actually is, now I just need to find the arch.
