Arriving at Zion National Park

I got another chance to visit the United States and I decided to include a personal trip after work is done. I decided to go and see the national parks of Utah, and if I know anything about the national parks in the United States, is that they are simply amazing. There are five national parks in Utah, and although none of them are UNESCO heritage sites, they might as well be since they are that good. Okay, I’m only just starting to visit them but based on my research, it looks like it would be a great place to visit. What’s more, I won’t be going to visit a furnace since it was almost the end of November which means it is much cooler here. In fact, there are already since of snow on some of the mountains.

I rented a car from Las Vegas and started my more than two hour journey to Zion National Park. Apart from some road works going out of Las Vegas, it was very good highway most of the way so it was very easy driving. Along the way, I was already seeing part of the amazing scenery of this area but obviously, I can’t take any photos since I was driving. The main entrance to Zion National Park is in the town of Springdale, Utah. Passing through the town, I can see that it is lined with hotels and restaurants, obviously catering to the tourist trade. I won’t be staying here though since prices tend to be higher here, the closer you are to the park. However, since it was still mid afternoon I think I still have time to have a look around and take photos.

I knew that I will try to visit all five of the national parks so I got the annual pass which gives me access to all the national parks for a whole year. I think it is great value since visiting each of the five parks would cost more than the annual pass. Since it was already November, I was half expecting the park to be deserted. However, I was surprised to see that there are still a good number of visitors here. I think there are a significantly less visitors this time of the year but certainly it wasn’t deserted.
