We are at our last stop before we head off to the big city of Prague. The city of Kutná Hora is just an hour away from Prague and it is a good day trip from the city. THe main attraction of Kutná Hora is the old city center of which several monuments are UNESCO World Heritage sites. I realize that we wasted a good bit of time in the morning and now we can only visit one site here in Kutná Hora, that is the Church of Saint Barbara. The gothic church is a great example of this type of architectural style. Once inside, I got the feeling that the church is smaller than I imagined. Most of the gothic churches that I visited, especially the more well known ones are massive and cavernous. The Church of Saint Barbara at Kutná Hora is more modest in size.

I think I a lot of the effort to design the church went into the exterior. I was going in the church thinking that it would be just as impressive as the exterior but it wasn’t. Sure, it is still a classic gothic church all the way, but the interiors were just okay. Perhaps, I have been spoiled by the most famous ones that even a church like this already fails to impress me. Either way, we have some time to spare and we can still go around the church. Since it isn’t that big in the first place, I don’t think this we would take that much time.
