I think I have completed my visit to the main parts of the Church of Santa Corona in Vicenza. I honestly didn’t feel like it was anything special, since the interiors of the church look rather “ordinary”. Architect Andrea Palladio didn’t design the church since it was built before he was even born. He did, however, leave his mark on this church in the form of a small chapel within the Church of Santa Corona. I honestly didn’t know about this chapel and how important it actually was, so I think I was lucky to have even stumbled into the chapel only because it was already there.

The Valmarana Chapel is the chapel in question here. It was designed by Andrea Palladio when one of his sponsors Antonion Valmarana passed away. This person has got to be some important person to have been able to have a chapel of their own within the Church of Santa Corona. Other members of the Valmarana Family were already buried in the church and they were just following suit. Remember that this was the time when people want to be buried in churches and the more important churches in cities or town would have more of these more influential people buried within the church grounds. Although, this is the first time I can recall that there was a private chapel carved out of the church for private persons.
