Cloister in the Church of Santa Corona in Vicenza
Cloister in the Church of Santa Corona in Vicenza

The Church of Santa Corona in Vicenza was built in the fourteenth century. Churches built during that time tend to be bigger. This is not different from the Church of Santa Corona. When I first entered the church, I thought it was a rather ordinary church. In fact, I didn’t feel like it was the fourteenth century church that it was. I started visiting the other parts of the church apart from main hall. I ended up at what is a cloister behind the church. I usually associate cloisters with monasteries but I can’t find information if the Church of Santa Corona was a monastery.

The cloister in question here is behind the main church and it feels like I was transported back several centuries. So what was so different about the cloister? Well, it feels old, parts of the cloister were in ruins and they were actively being restored. In fact, there was a section of the cloister which was off limits to visitors. I know, the cloister isn’t that impressive but you can see some details on the roof of the cloister or even the columns to be able to appreciate this.
