I found myself at the Church of Santa Corona in the city of Vicenza. This is the first church that I visited here in the city which I think is rather strange. In this part of Europe, a lot of the heritage sites are churches. I have seen more than my fair share of churches in this trip but this is the first one I visited in Vicenza considered there are a lot of heritage sites here in the city. The Church of Santa Corona was built in the fourteenth century, before famed architect Andrea Palladio was even born. This obviously means that the church wasn’t designed by him. Although the church has still some relation to him as we shall see later.

The church is classified as a gothic church but I didn’t feel like it was one. Maybe my architecture knowledge is lacking but to my untrained eyes it looks more like a romanesque church than a gothic one. Anyway, the church is rather well lit for a gothic church which made it a little easier to see the interiors. The church was meant to be home to a supposed relic of the crown of thorns. I don’t think I saw this relic at all. I think it would have been more prominent if that was the case. So far, the church was rather unremarkable as it looks pretty much like any other church that I have seen previously. Hopefully, it would get more interesting soon or this would be a very short visit.
