While I was still waiting to be able to deposit my backpacks at the hotel in Vicenza, I thought that I shouldn’t waste much time and I should just start my visit of the city of Vicenza. The city has several sites which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage sites and all of them are due to one man – Andrea Palladio, probably one of the most influential architects ever. He designed several structures here and outside the city of Vicenzia and I was hoping to be able to visit several of them. There are several sites outside the city but I don’t know if I would be able to reach those places considering that I don’t have a vehicle. I will have to see if I can figure it out.

For now, I will be going to the Teatro Olimpico. I don’t think I need any translation to understand what that means. It is an old theater. This was also designed by Andrea Palladio. There was a short passageway to get in the theater. All of a sudden, it just opens out to the theater. And what a sight it is. The theater is considered to be the oldest Rennaissance Theater still in existence. It was obviously inspired by Roman aesthetics and not unlike ones I have seen before. Except that this is still very much in use. The scenae frons is incredibly detailed and it even has a background to boot. I was lucky to be one of the first in the day to enter the theater, so it was easy for me to take photos.
