Inside the Orto Botanico di Padova Museum
Inside the Orto Botanico di Padova Museum

I was visiting the Orto Botanico di Padova or the Botanical Garden of Padua. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and it is the oldest academic university in the world. It has been an inspiration for countless botanical gardens around the world and has been a center for research for several centuries. I couldn’t appreciate the garden that much since the places weren’t in that great condition, probably because it was winter. However, it was also raining the whole time and my lens is so wet that my photos are even worse than the look normally. I had it and decided to go indoors. There is a museum here which tells the story of botanical garden. I’m not usually into museums but I would welcome the chance to get out of the rain.

I already feel that the botanical garden wasn’t as awe inspiring compared to the other UNESCO sites that I have visited but I worry that the museum would bore me even more. Well, at least I was dry, right. The museum was more modern than I expected. I guess it should be expected that it was modern since the main visitor center was a glass building. The museum, of course has a more museum feel to it. There are the required stories of how the botanical garden came to be, of which some points I have already described in previous posts. These ones go little more in depth. Like a school lecture, I would just zone out on the details and forget about them.
