I admit that I wasn’t intending to visit the Chiesa degli Eremetani since I was going to visit a nearby famous church but the rain was so bad that I thought that I should just stop here and wait for the rain to let up. I dried myself up while visiting the church and it helped that the church was also host to some frescoes. I think that the frescoes here would have made it to the list of World Heritage sites had it not gotten a lot of damage from the war. As a result, only a fraction of the old frescoes are on display here.

I can see that the rain is still falling so I continued to go around the church. Like a lot of of churches, the Chiesa degli Eremetani also has a cloister. This is almost like a private garden beside the church. There is a covered walkway surrounding the garden, and I would like to think that this is a place where people can go and meditate. The cloister wasn’t anything interesting in terms of design. In fact, it was rather ordinary. I took a quick walk around it and head back out. Unfortunately, it was still raining, not as heavy anymore but it was still there. I think I just have to make do with this.
