Inside the Frankfurt Central Train Station

After I had a rather disappointing dinner at Ramen Jun, I dragged myself back to the train station just across the street. At least the soup was hot enough to keep me warm for a bit. At this point in the night, I didn’t really feel like going out anymore. I know that there is probably a Christmas market somewhere in Frankfurt and I would have loved to visit it but I was tired from a whole day of travel. What’s more, the train ticket that I bought has an expiry date so I need to get back soon. It was easy enough to get back to Frankfurt Central Train Station but at least now I have a bit of time appreciate the train station itself.

I have been to a few train stations in Europe and most large cities would have an impressive central station. Frankfurt being a major financial center not only in Germany but also Europe, has a very large central train station. As you might expect, it is a huge center for transportation in the city. It connects to the subway line as well as the nationwide rail network. In short is very convenient. I think it is preferable to taking the bus since the trains have a fixed schedule and most of the time you don’t have to deal with traffic. Lately, there have been more efforts to persuade passengers to just take the train instead of flying. I can see the benefit in that too, you don’t need to go to the airport two hours earlier and you can just show up when the train is about to leave. You get a lot of time back like this. For shorter trips, I think trains make a lot of sense.
