Going to the Kaiserthermen in Trier

I would like to say that I like visiting historical ruins just because they are historical. Of course, I would like to visit the really famous ones but for now I would just have to settle for the ones already in the area. The city of Trier has a nice collection of ancient Roman ruins and a lot of them are wonderfully preserved. The last one I visited here is the Barbarathermen or Barbara Baths. As it is the case whenever I visit these kinds of places, I would find myself underwhelmed. Why won’t I be? The place is in ruins. You can barely figure out what the place was originally much less figure out how the thing works. This is most especially true for a place which isn’t that common anymore in these modern times.

Approaching the Kaiserthermen in Trier

I was doing my best to explore the Roman ruins here in Trier but the sites are all spread out over the city and I didn’t have my own transportation. While it is certainly walkable, I wasn’t in the best position to be doing any walking since I had my two backpacks with me and it was still freezing cold. I console myself by thinking that all this walking is raising my body temperature so I don’t feel that cold apart from my hands. To get to the next site, I need to just follow the road where the Barbarathermen is, towards the eastern end of the city. I didn’t realize that I ended up going to yet another of the Roman baths – Kaiserthermen.
