Entering the Aachen City Hall

While waiting for the Aachen Cathedral to open to visitors, I thought to go around the city center to see what else I can find here. It didn’t too long to find the Aachen City Hall. I originally thought that this was the imperial palace but it only has parts of the old structure. The Aachen City Hall looks a lot like a palace complete with pointy towers you would see in fairy tales. The building has a rather curious mix of architectures. The side facing the cathedral has more castle like look. But once you go behind it, the design changes to something more like a cathedral is a lot of windows and even statues. If I would hazard a guess, these figures even look like those that would be seen in a cathedral.

Visiting the Aachen City Hall requires a ticket. The lobby itself didn’t look that impressive as I was expecting something along the lines of an imperial palace. This area seem to be just an area in between major areas. Think of it as a hall which connects various places together. This one seems to be a central one that I would end up going back to over and over. There is a flight of stairs in front and I decided to head to the top first before anything else.
