Going to Harvard University

Johnston Gate at Harvard University

Johnston Gate at Harvard University

I have several hours to go around Boston before I fly out. I thought that I try to visit one of the places which Boston is known for – it’s universities. While that might not sound that exciting and I would agree, but I also know that some of these universities are very well known and they are considered to be some of the best universities in the world. In particular, I am going to visit Harvard University. I have known about this university even when I was a kid. You can see how big this university is in Boston as it also has its own subway station.

Harvard University is part of what is called the Ivy League which is a group of distinguished universities. The names in this group includes names which are recognized as some of the best in the world. I am not looking forward to see anything amazing here but I guess I would like to see how it is to walk on the grounds of this famous educational institution. Coming out of the Harvard T station, I was at one of the entrances of Harvard. The Johnston Gate is described as a georgian revival iron gate which was built in 1889. There really isn’t anything noteworthy about this gate apart from the fact that it is quite old and it is will very well maintained.
