The Venetian

One of the hotels in Las Vegas which I have known about before even coming here is The Venetian. I have always marveled at how they designed the hotel and casino with Venice in mind. This is not just limited to the gondolas but also the architecture. Outside, you can see replicas of the structures which can be found in Venice. One of the iconic structures outside The Venetian is the Rialto, which is a covered bridge in Venice. I have been to the real thing and it does look similar. I think this one at the Venetian is a little smaller than the real thing and additionally, it goes over a road and not a canal.

Still, just having this structure is impressive enough and it sends me back to the time I visited Venice. There are other structures here which have been copied such as the Saint Mark’s Campanille which is an iconic bell tower found in Venice. I actually never got to visit the real thing, probably because of the limited time I had to visit Venice. I don’t think this will replace any visit to Venice but at least I would know what to visit the next time I go there. It is certainly very impressive to see the attention to detail that went with constructing The Venetian. It proves that you can’t just slap a name on the hotel and expect people to come.
