Inside the Antelope Slot Canyon

I was doing research on where to go near the Grand Canyon area. I saw photo of a beautiful sandblasted canyon came up and I was convinced to include this place in my plans. This was in the town of Page in Arizona. I made sure to stay a few days here to ensure that I would get a slot for one of the group tours. You have to go on a group tour because the Navajo Nation, where the slot canyon is, requires it. Masks are also required here because it is still under mask mandate. Finally, you can’t bring large bags. If you need to, you have to get one which is transparent and small. This is to deter stealing of artifacts.

We were all bused in to Antelope Canyon. This area seemed to be part of a film set of some post apocalyptic film. And it didn’t help that our drivers were racing each other to get there first. While we weren’t there first, we were last either. I would have preferred to be last since there won’t be anyone coming after us. There were around fifteen of us in our group. The tour guide was a friendly fellow who was in desert attire. I wondered about that since it seemed to be a little over the top. Right in front of the parking lot is the entrance into the slot canyon. The slot canyon as I would imagine would be a very narrow canyon which was formed by water carving it out. It is much narrower than the Grand Canyon or even the nearby Glen Canyon. The canyon is just wide enough to fit people passing through, hence it was named a slot canyon.
