Walking on Angel’s Window

Walls at the Angel’s Window

Cape Royal is one of the well known view points at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. It is best known for sunrises and sunsets. Cape Royal has an interesting feature called the Angel’s Window, which is basically a hole in the wall of the rock sticking out of the canyon wall. Interestingly, the hole frames part of the Colorado river far behind it. That is not all, it is also possible to go to the Angel’s Window, well, not exactly. Angel’s Window is a natural arch that was formed when part of the wall collapsed. This formed a natural bridge where people like me can now traverse.

Of course, when you go there, you won’t be able to see the Angel’s Window anymore since it would be right below you. To compensate, there is a marvelous view here which visitors can take in. Just like Bright Angel Point, this area is also very windy. Maybe all the wind blowing around in the canyon below just comes out here. There a bit more space to walk around here though. At the very end of the formation, there is a fence to keep people from falling. The view from there is gorgeous. To the right you can even see the Colorado river.
