North Rim Visitor Center

North Rim Visitor Center

It seems that I have finally arrived at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. There was another park entrance here but I already purchased tickets the previous day and it seems to be still effective. I can be used for up to seven days and I think it is very good value for money especially if you are into hiking and the outdoors. I would like to think I like the outdoors but I don’t have the stamina to do long hikes to I just drive to the viewpoints and take photos. Speaking of driving, there seem to be a lot of visitors here. I was under the impression that less people visit the North Rim but this doesn’t seem to be the case.

The North Rim is at a higher elevation compared to the South Rim at more than eight thousand feet and it is definitely cooler here. That being said, it is still summer and it doesn’t get cold yet. It is still a welcome relief from the heat from down below. One of the first places I went to is the North Rim Visitor Center. It is actually more like a small cottage than a full blow visitor center. There is still the usual geology lesson here but there is also and information desk where you can ask for maps and also information on where to go.
