Grand Canyon South Rim

Grand Cayon

Growing up, I have always heard of the Grand Canyon but it has always been one of those places which I have to accept that I will never get to see in person. The United States has always been too far and too expensive for me to visit. My family was never rich, so the most I can do is see photos of it in books or in television. Fast forward several years, I’m still not rich but I think I am in a better position to afford to visit these places. This time around, it is not as far as before but it still takes me a lot of time to travel there.

The Grand Canyon is one of the most famous canyons in the world. It is the product of years of erosion by the Colorado river and it is a great example of the power of nature when run over millions of years. The Grand Canyon can be as deep as 1.8 kilometers. It is not the deepest canyon in the world. That honor actually belongs to some canyon in Nepal apparently. It is probably not surprising since this is the Himalayas we are talking about but the Grand Canyon is no doubt the most well known. It is also part of the UNESCO World Heritage site list and as you might expect, it attracts a lot of visitors yearly.
